Unnamed Japan
Designs that were born and beloved by the everyday people, including Hokusai, who were at the center of Edo culture and its economy. Woodblock prints, which enabled the making of multiple copies, are different from one-off artworks. Woodblock printing is the origin of the commercial designs that we see daily. The Unnamed Japan Project is our endeavor to redistribute to the modern world simplistic, unnamed designs containing a touch of warmth from 100 years ago.
